Food Bank Cookie Brunchcommunity-outreach
Please Help Us to Support the Morristown Community Soup Kitchen & Outreach Center at our Holiday Cookie Brunch on Sunday, December 4th, 2016 (10am-2pm)
At the Grain House Cookie Brunch on December 4th, there will be an option to make donations for the Morristown Community Soup Kitchen & Outreach Center. During this season of giving, it seems only right to dedicate a special holiday event for sharing. A list of some of the items that the Food Kitchen needs can be found at the bottom of this post.
(And, of course, during the Cookie Brunch, guests will have the opportunity to decorate holiday cookies as a great way to start their holiday celebrations!)
As their mission states, “The Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center provides nutritious meals in a warm, safe and caring environment, free of charge, no questions asked, to anyone who comes seeking nourishment.” The volunteers at the Center can also provide assistance with many other important issues including educational opportunities, veterans’ services, employment counseling, an annual Job Fair, health screenings, mental health counseling, substance abuse outreach and English as a Second Language
In addition to providing meals for guests, the Soup Kitchen also sponsors a free Farmers’ Market three times a week, from which patrons can take home donated fresh fruit, vegetables and meat to prepare wholesome meals for their families.
This amazing organization had a very large impact on the local community throughout 1915:
- They served over 58,000 meals (that’s an average of 150 to 300 men, women and children daily
- They provided an astounding more than 425,000 pounds of food for guests to take home.
Please help us continue our mission to share food with those in need this holiday season.
Below is a list of some of the items needed by the Morristown Soup Kitchen & Outreach Center:
- Hearty cans of soup/chili/stew, preferably flip-top (this is easiest for our guests who are homeless)
